An amusement park featuring some of the most celebrated cartoon figures in China, such as the Monkey King, the Black Cat Sheriff, and the Seven Brothers Gourd, is now open in Shanghai.
The first amusement park in China centering on the classical productions of Shanghai Animation Film Studio, Popome Amusement Park, was unveiled at Global Harbor, a landmark compound in Putuo district of Shanghai, on June 1.

The park occupies a floor space of 3,000 square meters, which is divided into 10 thematic areas, each featuring a household cartoon character. Children and their parents can play interactive games, watch cartoon movies, throw parties, watch theme performing shows, and read picture books in a quiet section.
A major highlight of the park is the Monkey King's area, which spans two stories, recreating the Heavenly Palace, the Dragon's Palace under the sea, and other important settings in the adventures of the Monkey King in the movie made in the 1960s.

According to Hu Jiajing, founder of Popome and general manager of Shanghai Yingmi Culture Co Ltd, the park aims to build a cultural bridge between generations as parents bring their children to play. The company plans to open more small-scaled parks in other cities of China.
