Recently, the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Company, in the 220kV new Siyang substation commissioning and start-up project, piloted the use of a whole-station simulated on-load test and the installation of temporary overcurrent protection during the start-up. The two-stage start-up reduced four 220kV airbus operations significantly improved the efficiency of new equipment start-up, and a lightweight new equipment start-up system was initially formed.
The 220kV new Siyang substation, situated in the development zone of Siyang county, is a semi-indoor facility. Due to the project involving the modification and connection of the original Siyang substations supporting the 220kV and 110kV lines, the initiation work was divided into two phases. Historically, the impact and load tests for new equipment necessitated the temporary establishment of a reliable relay protection system, commonly utilizing a 220kV air bus configuration. This approach complicated power grid operation adjustments and demanded a substantial operational workload. However, this time, the entire new Siyang substation underwent a simulated on-load test, utilizing a novel power transformer current device to verify the accuracy of relay protection AC circuit wiring. This process was completed in just 17 hours.
After the station is put into operation, it can increase the annual transmission power by 2.39 billion kWh for the Siyang area, further meeting the growing local demand for electricity. Additionally, it can reduce the consumption of standard coal by 311,000 tons and decrease carbon dioxide emissions by 798,000 tons. This will promote the transformation of the region's energy structure and help achieve the "dual carbon" goal.
In recent years, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co Ltd has accelerated the research and application of new technologies, including temporary over-current protection and power transformer current-carrying devices, aiming to minimize empty busbar operations and ease the adjustment of grid operation modes. Suqian Power Supply Company, a subsidiary of State Grid, will continue to summarize the experience gained from this startup and operational phase, contributing exemplary experiences to the systematic and mature application of new technologies and equipment within State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co Ltd.
