Cui Baohua, a former senior political advisor of Sichuan province, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison and fined 5 million yuan ($710,000) for accepting bribes, CCTV News reported on Wednesday.
All of Cui's illicit gains and accrued interest shall be confiscated and turned over to the State treasury, according to the first-instance ruling by the Intermediate People's Court of Kunming in Yunnan province.
The court found that Cui took advantage of his former positions to illegally accept money and property worth over 65.39 million yuan between 2005 and 2024.
During that period, Cui served as Party secretary of Suining, head of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Sichuan Provincial Committee, and vice-chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
In March, Cui was expelled from the Party for serious violations of Party discipline and laws.
