Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, welcomed its first snow of the year from Monday night to Tuesday, and photos and videos of the city's new white coat have gone viral.

Police vehicles are on patrol on viaducts and interchanges to help traffic adjust to wet and icy roads. Officers are also providing snow clearing and emergency aid for pedestrians who slip and fall.

China Railway Wuhan Group has deployed multiple measures to manage the low temperatures, including deploying antifreeze and rail heating devices.

The 24th solar term, da han, which translates to Major Cold, begins on Tuesday and ends on Feb 2. It is the last solar term in winter and also the last solar term of the year in the Chinese calendar.
