The United Kingdom government announced on Tuesday it has approved plans for the construction of a new Chinese embassy in London.
The embassy is scheduled to be built on the former Royal Mint Court site, which is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and was purchased by China in 2018.
The Chinese embassy in the UK told the media on Tuesday it was aware of the approval by the UK's Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
China's embassy in the UK is currently located in Portland Place, with a number of its functional departments, including those responsible for visas, education, and science and technology, based at separate locations across London.
