Starting from Jan 26, morning and evening peak-hour trains will be introduced between Beijing and Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province to meet commuter demand within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
According to China Railway Beijing Group, the updated schedule is designed to support regional development and aid the construction of Xiong'an, an emerging new city near the capital.
For the first time, a regional high-speed loop line will operate during rush hours, linking railway stations of Beijing West, Baoding East, Baiyangdian (in Xiong'an), Tianjin West, and Beijing Daxing International Airport.
The morning service G8859/60 will depart from Beijing West and stop at Baoding East and Baiyangdian before arriving at Tianjin West. The end-to-end journey will take 65 minutes, according to the group. In the evening, the returning G8861/2 will make the reverse journey in 76 minutes, it added.
In addition to the loop line, the Beijing-Xiong'an intercity railway will add another pair of evening peak trains.
The improved network will shorten travel time and strengthen rail integration across the region, helping relocated enterprises and personnel from Beijing settle and develop well in Xiong'an, the group noted.
