On Thursday, a high-speed train departed from Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, to the province's Meizhou, with services in a carriage provided for children to make travel easier and more enjoyable.
The interior walls of the carriage were covered with colorful cartoon patterns. It was filled with tables equipped with toys, picture books and handicraft materials, catering to the needs of children of different age groups.
Additionally, the carriage featured a wall of toys and a parent-child reading corner, where train attendants organized handicrafts and science quizzes, allowing parents to relax and rest.
It was the first high-speed train in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to feature a fun carriage. Designed specifically for family travel, it was developed by the Guangzhou Passenger Transport Division of China Railway Guangzhou Group.
With the continuous improvement of the high-speed rail network in recent years, there has been a significant increase in the demand for high-speed rail travel among parent-child families.
However, issues such as insufficient space for children's activities on trains and the pressure of parental care have long plagued many families, according to the railway operator.
To address the issue, the railway company has launched the fun services as a pilot project, designing and decorating certain areas of the dining carriage to create an exclusive children's activity area.
The railway group will operate these trains on Children's Day and during winter and summer vacations based on passenger flow.
