How to distinguish between genuine love and feigned affection in the digital age?
Producers of Liar, Liar, Love Is on Fire, an upcoming romance comedy, said the question could be addressed during its Beijing premiere on Tuesday.
Scheduled for a domestic release on Saturday, the film features actress Zheng Hehuizi and actor Zuo Lingfeng as two internet celebrities who face a career bottleneck. To boost their online presence, they decide to fake a wedding ceremony as a couple in love during a livestream. Unexpectedly, a chain of events unfolds, leading to genuine feelings developing between them.

The film marks the directorial feature debut of scriptwriter-director Wu Yawen. During the premiere, she revealed that the inspiration for the movie came from a popular internet catchphrase that humorously suggests smart people should avoid falling in love too easily.
Wu explained, "An interesting survey found that some people lie dozens of times a day. This is especially true for women, who often feel compelled to say things they don't truly mean in various situations, making it difficult for them to be fully themselves. That's why I initially focused on crafting the female character, aiming to reflect the dilemmas and struggles of women, as well as their inner longing for true love."
