New Hope Group, a Chinese agricultural conglomerate, will continue bolstering international cooperation, especially in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to source the best global resources, its chairman said in Beijing on Feb 27.
Liu Yonghao, chairman of New Hope Group and a national political advisor, said ahead of the annual two sessions in Beijing that although international markets pose many challenges, Chinese enterprises, with their strong competitiveness and innovation capabilities, have achieved significant success overseas.
Take the company as an example, it has presence in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, accelerating the establishment of overseas regional headquarters, he said, noting that it aims to become a truly international company bringing together the best global resources and delivering the best products and services to customers across the world.
"The competitive pressure in foreign markets is relatively lower, but differences in laws, security, and social environments are significant. Enterprises need to be patient in adapting and establishing themselves through integrity," Liu added in a media briefing at the Beijing International Hotel Conference Center.
Founded in 1982 and progressing along China's reform and opening-up, New Hope Group has a broad base of operations that mainly engage in agriculture, animal husbandry and food processing, in addition to operation and investment in emerging innovative industries with growth potential.
Citing his group's development philosophy of "Three Stabilities and One Boldness," which includes maintaining a stable mindset, stable business operations and a stable team, while also being courageous in innovation and breakthroughs, Liu said New Hope Group has withstood multiple economic cycles and market fluctuations by adhering to its core business while actively embracing new technologies and new quality productive forces to drive corporate transformation and upgrading.
With regard to agricultural technology innovation, Liu said, his group is enhancing the efficiency and quality of agricultural production through big data, artificial intelligence, and other technologies.
"The group is also increasing investment in breeding, cold chain logistics, and other fields to promote agricultural modernization," he said, revealing that the group is actively conducting research on a pig cycle prediction model to address market fluctuations and safeguard the interests of farmers.
Moreover, New Hope Group will continue practicing the concept of "the rich leading the poor to prosperity" by actively participating in rural vitalization, Liu noted, adding that through the "New Farmers" training program and the construction of demonstration bases, the group has trained over 80,000 new-type farmers and plans to further expand this scale in the future.
