As China celebrates Lantern Festival on Wednesday, Nanxiang, an ancient town, in Shanghai's Jiading district is immersed in a joyful atmosphere. In particular, the debut of the lantern exhibition themed with "dancing snakes, joyful lanterns and good fortune" has added a strong festive vibe to this town with a history of more than 1,500 years. Since the opening of the lantern exhibition on Jan 17, the ancient town, with its quaint and historic architecture and dazzling lantern displays, has attracted numerous visitors.
To ensure the smooth progress of the celebration activities during the festival and electrical safety, staff members of the State Grid Shanghai Jiading Power Supply Company paid a visit to Nanxiang on the evening of Feb 10 to conduct electrical inspections and safety promotion. Due to the sudden increase in power demand in the area during the lantern exhibition, the company's supply and service center has been closely monitoring the power supply situation to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply.
This power securing activity was jointly initiated by the company's supply management center, marketing department and youth league, as they moved between various lanterns, conducting meticulous inspections of the power connections and supply lines of each decoration. In addition to technical inspections, the workers also distributed electrical safety promotional materials to shops along the streets and visitors, explaining electrical safety knowledge to enhance people's awareness of electrical safety.

During the inspections, the employees paid special attention to the historical buildings in the ancient town, conducting comprehensive and detailed inspections of the power facilities in these key areas to prevent electrical fires in buildings. Additionally, during peak electricity usage at night, they used infrared thermography equipment to inspect power lines and connections, ensuring there were no abnormal hot spots and making on-site corrections to minor issues. After a night of effort, the staff members confirmed that the electrical facilities in the ancient town were in good condition.
The State Grid Shanghai Jiading Power Supply Company said that it will continue to conduct inspections of electrical equipment in popular areas such as Nanxiang town, combining early analysis and diagnosis of energy usage data and the independently developed digital systems to create a safe festival for tourists and businesses. During Lantern Festival, thanks to the colorful lanterns and the bustling markets, visitors can not only experience the rich cultural feast of Jiading but also feel the joy of the festival.
