An unknown alley in Ningde, Fujian province, recently became a hot spot for photo opportunities thanks to its 100-meter-long flower wall that leads people into a three-dimensional oil painting.
The newly renovated alley is nicknamed Monet's Garden, after the French impressionist painter Claude Monet. The color and pattern of the wall remind people of his artistic style.
On the stone walls, multicolored artificial hydrangeas cluster together like waves, cascading layers of floral waterfalls downward. They are complemented by vintage umbrella decorations, creating a scene full of cinematic charm.
Within the alley are spring couplet walls, photo spots with signboards, flower lanterns and more, where sunlight casts dappled shadows on the petaled walls.
A resident surnamed Lin, who was taking a stroll, said that the layered flower wall design makes it easy to capture stunning pictures with just a cellphone.
Another pedestrian, surnamed Chen, said it used to be an ordinary old alley, but after the renovation, the environment has improved greatly. "It's delightful to see while taking a walk," he said.
The local government carried out the renovation as part of an urban upgrade project to improve residents' sense of happiness with art.
