State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company recently organized young volunteers to visit Huanyifan village in Zhejiang province, to assist in inspecting the power lines and equipment, and to guide orchard staff members on safe and efficient electricity usage. Huanyifan village is located in Zhejiang's Qiuchuan town, Changshan county in Quzhou.
The Changshanhuyou tangelo, known for its cold resistance, long shelf life and unique flavor, has a history of more than 600 years. It won the national Agricultural Expo Gold Award in 1995 and 1997. In 1996, Changshan county was named the "hometown of Chinese tangelo". This year, the annual production of tangelo has reached 150,000 metric tons, with a total output value of nearly 5 billion yuan ($691.34 million) along the entire industry chain. This has created employment for nearly 100,000 people in the county, and increased the income of farmers by 560 million yuan, making it a major economic income source in rural Changshan.
In recent years, Changshan county has established over 100 tangelo deep-processing enterprises that enter their peak production period during the harvesting season. These enterprises develop tangelo deep-processing products, ranging from dried fruits, fruit teas, dried tangelo slices, freshly squeezed juice, mixed tangelo juice, facial masks and tangelo paste. The wide range of products pave the way for the prosperity of Changshan farmers.
Many cooperatives have begun purchasing tangelos for further processing during the current tangelo picking season. Customer managers from State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company have made it a priority to provide special electricity services during this season. Special visits have been made to tangelo processing enterprises to inspect electrical lines, measuring devices, protective equipment and electrical appliances, to promptly address safety hazards and defects. In addition, safety promotional materials are also being distributed to cooperatives and processing enterprises to teach them safe electricity usage knowledge for the autumn and winter seasons.
To date, in terms of the tangelo industry special services, State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company has inspected 276 distribution transformer stations, visited and inspected the electricity usage of 64 tangelo deep processing enterprises, identified and addressed 26 safety hazards and distributed more than 1,200 safety electricity promotional materials.
