Beijing hoped Washington could foster an objective and rational understanding of China and change the zero-sum game mindset to actively work with it to explore the right way for the two major countries to coexist, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said as he met Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia Group, a United States-based global political risk research and consulting firm, in Beijing on Friday.

During talks, Wang emphasized that China will continue to handle its relations with the US in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

As the world's two largest economies and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and the US should shoulder the responsibilities of major powers, jointly address global challenges, and achieve win-win outcomes, Wang said.

By doing so, it is in the interests of peoples of the two countries and is also the common expectation of countries worldwide, he added.

Wang expressed the hope that the US would truly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and meet China halfway.

Noting US-China relationship is the most important bilateral relations in the world, Bremmer said Eurasian Group is pleased to see it stabilizing with efforts of both sides and is willing to continue offering constructive suggestions for the long-term peaceful coexistence of Washington and Beijing.

He expressed the hope that the two major powers would work together to uphold a stable international order.
