Known as "the world's birthplace of skiing", Altay is a tranquil mountainous city that has a freeze-up period of about half a year. As it is endowed with rich and unique ice and snow resources, skiing is a popular winter sport among local people, who are always thrilled to ski in the regular ski resort or the skating rink.
In Altay, everyone grew up with memories of snow and ice. They enjoy making snowmen and engaging in snowball fights. Lifelike snow sculptures are found everywhere in most streets.
