Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane will pay an official visit to China from Wednesday to Saturday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning announced on Monday.
Speaking at a daily news briefing, Mao said this visit marks Thongsavanh's first trip to China since taking office in November, as well as the first visit by a foreign minister to China following the country's annual two sessions, highlighting the high importance both sides place on bilateral relations.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold talks with Thongsavanh to discuss topics including strengthening bilateral and multilateral strategic coordination, she said.
China has been Laos' largest source of foreign investment and largest export market for many consecutive years.
China looks forward to using this visit to deepen and solidify the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and contributing positively to regional and global peace, stability and development, Mao added.
