A humanoid robot and two robot dogs stole the show at the new semester opening ceremony at Hongfan School affiliated with Chongqing No 8 Secondary School held in Chongqing on Wednesday.
The humanoid robot, known as G1 produced by the Hangzhou-based robotics firm Unitree Robotics — the same type as the "dancing robot" at the nationally televised Spring Festival Gala, donned a school uniform. Accompanied by two robot dogs outfitted as lion dancers, their performance sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the audience.

At the ceremony, teachers and students from the school also participated in a debate and a skit themed on artificial intelligence. The debate revolved around whether the use of artificial intelligence would enhance or diminish the creativity of high school students. Furthermore, in the skit, they illustrated two contrasting scenarios of completing homework with the aid of DeepSeek.
"We hope to steer our students toward technological advancements, nurturing an innovative spirit, sparking an interest in science, and fostering a desire for exploration through such activities," said Liu Jianping, the vice-principal of the school.
