In Xinjiang village, Zhangzhen town in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, staff members from the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company have recently been replacing the old overhead ground wires of No 98-105 towers on the Yuzhang 3E69 35 kilovolt line in Shaoxing's Shangyu district.
"The main task of this operation is to replace 1.5 kilometers of overhead ground wires and their old accessories. There are many live wires nearby; the terrain on-site is complex; and there is a need to travel across mountainous forest areas, making the maintenance operation quite challenging," said Zhu Yinsheng, the on-site construction supervisor of the company.

At the construction site, workers were seen devising a safety construction plan to complete the operation as quickly as possible. Construction personnel from the company were divided into multiple work teams to operate simultaneously. During the replacement operation, caution tape was used to cordon off the construction area, ensuring the safety of pedestrians and vehicles during the work. Subsequently, the workers skillfully carried out a series of tasks such as the dismantling and replacement of the wires. By properly arranging the operation of the power grid, the workers ensured that residents in the surrounding areas were not affected by power outages during the work.
The area is a lightning strike zone and the ground wires had corroded, leading to a decrease in lightning protection effectiveness. It posed a safety hazard that required urgent replacement.

In the preparatory phase, the company conducted a comprehensive lightning protection inspection of the power supply facilities. Technicians carried out detailed inspections of key areas such as substations, transmission lines, distribution lines and towers, to identify and fix potential lightning protection risks. The company performed meticulous organization, developed detailed construction plans and implemented methods such as changing the route of the lines and replacing old lines and equipment to upgrade the lines.
The company has been accelerating the construction of the power grid over the years, while also focusing on upgrading rural distribution networks. They are addressing issues such as weak rural grid structures and aging lines and equipment, providing electricity security for the construction of beautiful rural areas and the revitalization of the countryside.
