Shanghai Disney Resort's Zootopia themed land has been honored with the 2025 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement — Theme Park Land by the Themed Entertainment Association.
The TEA is an international nonprofit association representing the world's leading creators, developers, designers and producers of compelling places and experiences, with its annual Thea Awards being widely considered the Oscars of themed entertainment, celebrating pioneering achievements.
"Imagineers around the world continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in immersive storytelling, delivering unique experiences and memorable character moments in ways that only Disney can," said Bruce Vaughn, president and chief creative officer at Walt Disney Imagineering. "I'm so proud of the Imagineers and Cast Members who are recognized for their outstanding contributions to our work and the broader themed entertainment industry."
Joining Zootopia as a 2025 Thea Award recipient is Tokyo DisneySea's Fantasyland Forest Theatre, marking the first time Disney's Imagineering team has won two lands in the same year.
Zootopia's attraction, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, also received the 2024 China Theme Park Excellent Attraction award from the Institute for Theme Park Studies in China on Nov 16.
As the park's eighth themed land and the world's first based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Zootopia, the Zootopia themed land brings guests an immersive experience with an all-terrain cruiser powered by a trackless ride system.
According to consumer insights from the resort, nearly 97 percent of surveyed visitors were already aware of the Zootopia themed land before visiting Shanghai Disney Resort, with one-third citing it as their key motivation for traveling to the resort.
