China welcomes the joint statement from Cambodia and Thailand that agrees to a ceasefire, and Beijing stands ready to continue to provide the platform and create the conditions for both sides to have fuller and more detailed communications, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Saturday.
The signing of the joint statement proves that dialogue and consultation is a viable and effective way to resolve complex disputes, the spokesperson added.
Noting that Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with foreign ministers of the two countries in Yunnan province from Sunday to Monday, the spokesperson said representatives of the militaries of the three countries will also take part.
China will play a constructive role in its own way for Cambodia and Thailand, to consolidate the ceasefire, resume exchanges, rebuild political trust, achieve turnaround in bilateral relations, and uphold regional peace, the spokesperson said.
