The 28th China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair for Tropical Agricultural Products opened on Thursday, drawing more than 25,000 professional buyers and over 2,000 companies from 16 countries and regions to the island province.
The massive trade fair features nine exhibition zones spanning 75,000 square meters. Thailand and Pakistan are this year's guest countries of honor, while Sichuan is the guest Chinese province.

As of 3 pm Thursday, on-site sales at the fair totaled $573,000, including online sales of about $33,700. Negotiated orders reached $31.9 million, with four signed projects equaling $3.18 million.
Huang Lingyan, chairman of Hainan Didi Wojia Ecological Agriculture Science and Technology Development, noted the island's unique climate and soil conditions, highlighting the cantaloupes grown in Lingshui Li autonomous county as exceptionally sweet.

Huang Xiongbiao, chairman of Honglin Farm Group in Changjiang Li autonomous county, said that the company introduced monk fruit to Hainan in April. The company is now showcasing processed and dried monk fruit at the fair, including health teas and snacks.
Concurrently, the China International Tropical Crops Industry Conference 2025 convened in Haikou to gather experts, business representatives, and international organization members for discussions on industry trends and cooperation.

Bao Hongwen, Party secretary and chairman of Hainan State Farms Investment Holding Group, spoke at the conference and praised the Hainan Free Trade Port policies and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership as effective for expanding the reach of the tropical crop industry.
