A construction worker was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in an over two-meter-deep trench at a gas pipeline construction site in Shuangyashan, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, CCTV News reported.
The incident occurred at 4:30 pm on July 11 when the worker was installing a gas pipeline. One side of the trench suddenly collapsed, burying him chest-deep in soil.

At 4:32 pm, firefighters from the local fire brigade arrived at the scene and began emergency operations.
While the rescue was underway, a secondary collapse occurred. At this critical moment, one firefighter stepped forward to protect the trapped worker from falling debris, while warning others nearby to stay out of the danger zone.

Fortunately, there were no additional injuries and rescue work continued. Firefighters used shovels and their hands to remove the debris.
After nearly 40 minutes, the worker was successfully rescued and promptly sent to local hospital. He is in a stable condition.
