The 2025 Shanghai Suzhou Creek Half Marathon is set to kick off at 7 am on Sunday in the city's Putuo district.
As one of the Shanghai Marathon series races, the Shanghai Suzhou Creek Half Marathon features a running route of an array of Putuo district's most iconic landmarks, starting at the Tian An 1000 Trees, passing the Shanghai Mint Museum, Shangchao Mansion, Global Harbor, and Changfeng Park, and concluding at the Suzhou Creek Half Marathon Park.
Since its inception in 2023, the Shanghai Suzhou Creek Half Marathon has been constantly growing from event size to service quality.
This year, the number of pre-registrations hit a historical high of 29,251, and only 7,000 were selected to compete, including domestic runners from 30 provinces, and 285 overseas runners from 39 countries and regions, according to the event organizer.
Moreover, in order to encourage more runners to participate, the organizing committee has announced generous bonuses for the top six men and women. The top 150 male runners and top 100 female runners in the event will get direct access to the Shanghai Marathon in December.
In recent years, Putuo district has comprehensively committed to the construction of a modern urban area, aiming to create a world-class waterfront area along the Suzhou Creek, including high-quality waterfront forests and public green spaces, as well as high-level management.
