Chinese police cracked more than 7,000 cases involving personal information security violations in 2024, the Ministry of Public Security said on Tuesday.
Authorities stepped up efforts to combat such crimes last year, dismantling multiple platforms that traded personal data, the ministry said in a statement. It also disclosed 10 typical cases police solved last year.
The ministry urged businesses handling personal information to strictly fulfill their legal obligations and enhance security measures. It also advised the public to properly store and use their personal data.
