World renowned Chinese-Dutch fashion designer Hu Sheguang is known for his bold designs and his commitment to empowering older women aspiring to shine bright on the runway by establishing the Sheguang Hu Fashion Women's Army in 2019.
More than 100 members of Sheguang Hu Fashion Women's Army, the average age being 65 and the oldest being 83, attended the World Fashion Goddess 2025 coronation ceremony at the Regent Beijing on Saturday on International Women's Day.
All the models strutted the catwalk in Hu's haute couture designs, sporting the red crown, a symbol of courage and wisdom. Hu presented each of them with a trophy to recognize the pursuit of their fashion dreams regardless of age.

The ceremony also highlighted Hu's new qipao series themed on Jiu Zi Li Huo (Nine Purple Li Fire), a concept from Chinese metaphysics, particularly in fengshui and I Ching. It represents a specific energy combination associated with the Fire element, symbolizing transformation, passion, and dynamic change.
Calling the qipao dress a fashion gift to Chinese women, Hu blended fiery red with traditional purple patterns and made it with raised shoulders. This lends the dress some masculinity and embodies the strength and gentleness that modern women possess.

"The International Women's Day is not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to awaken women's inner strength. With this ceremony and show, we hope to help the world see the undefinable oriental beauty through fashion," said the designer.
Sheguang Hu Fashion Women's Army is a platform offering modelling training and promoting a healthy, fashionable lifestyle. Boasting bases in more than 100 cities around China, it has sent members to strut on international catwalks such as New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week.
