The vast number of compatriots in Taiwan must realize that the deeper the Democratic Progressive Party authorities lean on the United States, the more it harms the island, said Chen Binhua, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, on Wednesday.
His comments came after Elbridge Colby, named by US President-elect Donald Trump as the next undersecretary of defense policy, repeatedly stated that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co's chip fabs should be destroyed if a conflict erupts in the Taiwan Strait.
Chen said this once again confirms that, in the eyes of some US politicians, TSMC is viewed as a piece of meat on the chopping block—if they can't have it, they will destroy it.
He added that this highlights the true face of the US, which always prioritizes its own interests while fundamentally disregarding Taiwan's interests and the feelings of its residents.
