At the 110-kV Cizheng No 2 Line and Guangzheng Line in Hezheng county, Linxia, Gansu province, grid staffers are conducting ice hazard mitigation work in a safe and orderly manner.

In recent years, extreme weather has become more frequent, with the 400mm rainfall zone shifting northward. During the seasonal transition between autumn and winter, certain areas in Linxia, such as mountain passes, valleys, and hillsides, are prone to ice and snow accumulation on power lines, which can cause lines to ice-jump or sway, leading to power outages and potential faults.

To address these risks, Linxia has been installing spacer rods to prevent the ice-jumping faults of double-circuit power lines. In addition, the installation work on the 110-kV Cizheng No 2 Line and Guangzheng Line has been completed, improving the power supply capacity of the lines under harsh weather conditions and ensuring a solid foundation for Linxia's power grid to withstand winter peaks, said State Grid Linxia Power Supply Co.

Looking ahead, the power supplier said it will continue to strengthen the operation and maintenance efforts, conducting more frequent inspections and promptly addressing any defects or risks, which are expected to comprehensively improve the stability of the power lines, ensuring the safe and stable operation of Linxia's power grid.
