KFC Guangzhou, which operates in 16 cities in Guangdong province, hit a new milestone with its 1,000th restaurant opened on Thursday.
A new Kcoffee Cafe, the 100th in Guangdong, was also opened alongside the new restaurant in Guangzhou's Yuexiu district.
Guangdong has stood in the lead in the country for economic and social development and innovation. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the most open and economically dynamic regions in China. The catering industry has seen robust development there, said Warton Wang, general manager of KFC China, at the opening ceremony.
Amid heated competition, KFC Guangzhou has carried out innovation consistently and made breakthroughs, he said.

KFC opened 635 net new restaurants in China in the first half of this year and just opened its 500th Kcoffee Cafe, which signifies its firm confidence in long-term investment in the country, he said.
