On Oct 23, with its equipment smoothly running powered by electricity, the 220-kilovolt Liangzhu Substation located southeast of the Hangzhou Bay Flower Field Scenic Area in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province was put into operation. The substation is the 40th 220 kV substation in Shaoxing and serves as a powerful electrical engine for industrial development on the south bank of the Hangzhou Bay region while promoting high-quality economic development in the region.
The Liangzhu Transmission and Transformation Project, a key project in Zhejiang province, primarily serves the Jiangbin district of Shaoxing Binhai New Area and the national-level Shangyu Hangzhou Bay Economic Development Zone. In recent years, with local economic development and industry upgrades, large projects such as the Zhejiang Winjoy New Material, Jiesheng Chemical Industry, Sanhua New Energy, and Fujian Tianji Automobile Manufacturing have successively started construction in the area, leading to rapid growth in electricity demand. In response, the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company has conducted extensive on-site research and visits, accelerating power grid construction, and effectively improving power supply capacity.
The Liangzhu Substation is a half-in-house GIS intelligent substation, featuring two main transformers with a capacity of 240,000 kilovolt-ampere each, four circuits of 220 kV outgoing lines, five circuits of 110 kV outgoing lines and 16 circuits of 20 kV outgoing lines. The equipment in the station is arranged in a T-shape layout, saving 30 percent of the land area. After the project is put into operation, it will alleviate the power supply pressure on the Wangwang and Lihui substations, optimize the grid structure of 110 kV substations such as Tubbei and Yuwei, and provide power access points for the Gongye and Tudong substations, further enhancing the power supply reliability of surrounding industrial parks.
During the construction phase, the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company launched a scientific plan, strengthened overall process controls and arranged construction plans reasonably. Frontline construction workers overcame the high temperatures of this summer and carried out line laying operations in the early morning to ensure the progress of the project with quality and quantity. Additionally, the company used spiral anchor green temporary construction technology to achieve "zero excavation of land, zero hardening work and zero cost in re-cultivation" of temporary construction sites, which significantly reduced disturbance to surrounding land and effectively protected the surrounding environment.
The operation of this project coincides with the period of power grid construction and autumn inspections. Facing difficulties such as heavy workload and tight deadlines, the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company deployed a commissioning team to the substation to complete tasks such as equipment tagging, fire facility management, monitoring system debugging and key document preparation. It drew on elite forces to form a joint acceptance team to conduct pre-acceptance, initial acceptance and re-inspection of the project to ensure "zero defects" in the operation.
The Liangzhu Substation will ensure the development of the industrial platform in Hangzhou Bay, meeting the electricity demand of industrial chain clusters such as advanced materials, intelligent equipment, life and healthcare, and digital economy. In the next step, the State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company will continue to practice the "let the electricity wait for development" principle, and use reliable power grid and high-quality services to help Shaoxing tap into the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the construction of the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo integrated demonstration zone.
