A museum to commemorate the "two bombs, one satellite", referring to China's first atomic bomb, intercontinental ballistic missile and satellite, has been renovated and reopened to public on October 16, 2024, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of China's first atomic bomb explosion. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) transformed the site of a former rocket test base, located on the Huairou campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in the suburbs of Beijing, into the memorial museum.

二十世纪五六十年代，面对严峻的国际形势，为了抵御帝国主义的武力威胁和打破大国的核垄断、核讹诈，党中央毅然作出研制“两弹一星”、重点突破国防尖端技术的重大决策。1964年10月16日，我国成功爆炸第一颗原子弹。1967年6月17日，我国第一颗氢弹空爆试验成功。1970年4月24日，我国第一颗人造地球卫星“东方红一号”成功上天。“两弹一星”的成功研制，是全国人民团结一致、奋力攻坚取得的伟大壮举。研制历程中，一大批优秀科研工作者扎根茫茫戈壁滩，勇做惊天动地事，甘当隐姓埋名人，铸就了伟大的“两弹一星”精神。
中国科学院与“两弹一星”纪念馆位于中国科学院大学雁栖湖校区的怀柔火箭试验基地旧址，于2015年正式开馆。这里是钱学森先生回国后亲自选址和创建的我国第一个火箭研究与试验基地，为“两弹一星”事业作出了重大的历史性贡献。纪念馆收录了在中国科学院工作过的17位“两弹一星”元勋的事迹资料，记录了中国科学院1万余名参研参试人员相关信息。2024年，中国科学院对纪念馆进行改造升级，进一步充实文物史料、优化展厅布局、强化育人功能。改造升级过程中，纪念馆深入挖掘了大量具有珍贵历史价值和文化价值的重要档案史料和文物，包括“两弹一星”研制过程中重要科研仪器设备的图纸和模型，部分“两弹一星”元勋的手稿和在重要历史场合穿过的服装等。同时，中国科学院大学雁栖湖校区内保留的“两弹一星”旧址遗迹也被进一步发掘标识、分类整理。
