Tourism and cultural authorities in Changsha, Hunan province, launched more than 80 events to celebrate this year's Spring Festival, attracting tourists from inside and outside the province.
According to big data collected by regional cell phone use, the number of travelers in the province reached 23.24 million on Sunday, up by 47.2 percent year-on-year.
Travelers from outside the province reached 5.78 million on the day.
The provincial capital hosted traditional performances, lantern shows and market gatherings throughout the festival.
Changsha Museum launched a performance showcasing the city's major historical events through music, dance, poetry and recitation.
Meanwhile, a theater in the famous Orange Isle scenic area put on a show from the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
A woman surnamed Guo from Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, watched the show with her family on Friday. She said they went to Changsha to celebrate the festival this year, and as soon as she heard about the show on Orange Isle, she bought tickets for everyone.
