As strawberry cultivation enters the critical winter phase, staff members from the State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company visited the strawberry planting base in Yangcunqiao town in Jiande, Zhejiang province, to conduct safety inspections to ensure that the electricity needs of the farmers are met.
In the smart greenhouses lush greenery abounds, with rows of green and red strawberries hanging from the branches. Temperature and humidity sensors, fertigation systems, automatic film rolling machines and other smart devices operate steadily, safeguarding the growth of the strawberries.
"Every year, when the coldest time of winter arrives and strawberries hit the market, we rely on the assistance of the power supply company for electricity. With them here, I feel much more at ease," said strawberry grower Fang.
As a pillar agricultural industry in the county-level city of Jiande, strawberry cultivation relies heavily on stable electricity supply. The State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company organizes service team to regularly visit strawberry growers and conduct comprehensive inspections of electrical facilities such as power lines and automated equipment on the premises. They distribute promotional materials and provide on-site answers to help growers understand how to correctly use and maintain electrical equipment, which has enhanced their awareness of safe electricity usage.
To ensure that growers can receive timely assistance when facing electrical issues, the power supply company has established a rapid response mechanism. Growers can report issues anytime through an app, which is received by the power supply company and personnel are promptly dispatched for repairs, ensuring worry-free electricity usage for farmers.
In order to achieve the goal of developing the entire strawberry industry chain, promoting the Jiande strawberry brand and enhancing the city’s agricultural reputation, the Jiande government is implementing standardized strawberry cultivation areas and introducing smart greenhouses to further scale up its strawberry cultivation industry.
In preparation for this, the State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company has prepared a construction plan for the standardized strawberry cultivation areas. Plans are in place to install 526 new electric poles and lay 9,825 meters of new lines, completing the high-quality relocation project for the construction of standardized strawberry cultivation areas.
After the completion of the smart strawberry greenhouses, the power supply company has established a specialized service team to provide inspection and maintenance services for the equipment, ensuring an adequate power supply for strawberry cultivation.
In the future, the State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company said it will continue to play the role of "electricity pioneer" to serve the development of rural characteristic industries. Focusing on the construction of the rural power grid and electricity demand, its effort is injecting abundant energy into the vitalization and development of rural areas.
