It's freezing cold outside with snow blanketing the ground. However, inside the greenhouses of the vegetable planting base in Jiangtaibao town, Xiji, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, it's warm and full of greenery.
On Dec 14, Fu Xiaogang, the person in charge of the base, and the workers were picking vegetables, cutting them and loading them onto trucks. Suddenly, a power outage occurred at the base. Fu quickly dialed the hotline of Ma Wangui, the district manager of Jiangtaibao Power Supply Station of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co Ltd Guyuan branch.
Less than five minutes later, the district manager arrived at the scene. After inspection, they found that the insulation layer of the lighting circuit above the entrance of the base was damaged, which caused the leakage protector to trip. The workers helped replace the damaged wires and restored the power supply. They also carefully checked the temperature control, drip irrigation and other equipment to ensure that the electricity usage in the base was safe and reliable.
In recent years, the cold and cool vegetable industry in Jiangtaibao town has been booming. Over the years, a total of 5.58 kilometers of 10-kilovolt power lines and 11.2 kilometers of 0.4-kilovolt power lines have been erected for the local area, and 8 transformers have been installed. Every effort has been made to ensure the development of the cold and cool vegetable industry and meet the electricity demand of 324 villagers engaged in cold and cool vegetable planting.
Currently, the planting area of cold and cool vegetables in Jiangtaibao town has reached 10,280 mu (685.33 hectares). Fourteen varieties such as celery, cabbage, peppers and broccoli are planted here, with an annual total output of around 16,000 tons. The products are sold far away to markets in Guangdong, Fujian provinces, Hong Kong and other places.
Over the past few years, on the basis of the transformation and upgrading of the power grid in Jiangtaibao, the State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co Ltd Guyuan branch has organized employees to visit vegetable processing workshops, constant-temperature storage warehouses and other places on a regular basis, understand customers' electricity demand, check and deal with potential safety hazards in electricity usage, and ensure the reliability of electricity supply for the development of the cold and cool vegetable industry.
