Two new books recounting 33 years of reform insights and proposals by the China Institute for Reform and Development were released on Friday, detailing the institute's long-standing commitment to China's reform agenda.
The books - Stand Fast to Reform: My 33 Years with CIRD and Advising on Reform: Reform Think Tank's 33 Years of Pursuit and Exploration - were edited and written by Chi Fulin, president of the institute, and published by the Press of the National Academy of Governance of the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Publishing Group.
Chi said that the books highlight the institute's key achievements and contributions to reform over the past three decades. Reflecting on the writing process, he noted that merging personal ideals for reform with China's broader reform and opening-up efforts speaks to the era's spirit. The publication of the two books will carry significance for further deepening reform comprehensively, he said.
Wei Liqun, former Party secretary of the National Academy of Governance, commented that the two books reflect China's reform history, the institute's development, the construction of China's think tank, and the collective dedication of the institute in advancing reforms.
The books, completed in about two months, have published 4,000 sets, according to Hu Min, president of the Press of the National Academy of Governance.
As part of the China Reform Think Tank's Book Series, the two books focus respectively on Chi's personal journey with the institute and on the institute's reform recommendations in the past 33 years. Since its establishment in Hainan province on Nov 1, 1991, the institute has published multiple works related to China's reform and development.
Zhang Zhuoyuan, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, remarked on the forward-thinking and practical value of the institute's reform proposals.
Zhang Zhanbin, director of the Chinese modernization research center at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, emphasized that the institute's innovations have contributed to the Chinese path to modernization.
