The annual carbon-sink capacity of China's forests and grassland has exceeded 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents, ranking first in the world, according to a press conference on ecological conservation and restoration ahead of National Ecology Day.

【知识点】
碳汇是指从大气中清除二氧化碳的过程、活动或机制。在林业中主要是指植物吸收大气中的二氧化碳并将其固定在植被或土壤中，从而减少该气体在大气中的浓度。如森林碳汇、草地碳汇、耕地碳汇、土壤碳汇、海洋碳汇等等。碳汇量是指一定时期内森林碳库碳储量的变化量。
国家林草局称，森林是集水库、钱库、粮库、碳库于一身的大宝库，森林和草原对国家生态安全具有基础性战略性作用。据测算，目前全国林草年碳汇量超过12亿吨二氧化碳当量，居世界首位。据预测，2060年我国难以避免的碳排放约有25亿吨二氧化碳当量，林草碳汇能吸收一半以上碳排放。实现“双碳”目标是我国主动担当大国责任、对国际社会作出的庄严承诺。作为实现碳中和目标的“压舱石”，林草碳汇发挥着不可替代的作用。
国家林草局启动18个林业碳汇试点市（县）和21个国有林场森林碳汇试点近2年来，试点单位结合实际，制定巩固提升碳汇能力实施方案，开展碳汇计量监测方法实践，创新林业碳汇应用场景，探索出多种巩固提升碳汇能力的途径与价值实现模式。
