China is sharing its artificial intelligence practices and know-how with the rest of the world as shown in AI from China Benefits the World (2026), a national AI case collection released by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, among others.
Digital Intelligence Brain: Empowering Chile's Power Grid, a project developed by State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co Ltd, has been selected for inclusion in the AI from China Benefits the World (2026). It is the only project from State Grid Corp of China included in this year's collection, which was released at the main forum of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance last week.
This year's edition features 10 cases illustrating China's international cooperation in AI across a growing range of countries, regions, and "AI+" application scenarios.
Digital Intelligence Brain: Empowering Chile's Power Grid's inclusion represents national recognition of State Grid Zhejiang's innovative approach to international AI cooperation and demonstrates the company's contribution to advancing energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative through digital technologies.
Ye Wei, who is in charge of the project at State Grid Zhejiang, said in an interview with China Daily that the project is a key initiative to implement the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission's requirements for advancing the "AI+" campaign among centrally administered State-owned enterprises.
Designed to meet the needs of smart grid development and the global energy transition, the solution uses a collaborative multi-agent architecture to support the digital and intelligent transformation of Chile's Compania General de Electricidad.
The solution incorporates intelligent agents for meteorological monitoring and early warning, fieldwork verification, overdue payment management, customer complaint handling, and electricity theft detection. Together, these applications support key operations across the electricity value chain, from grid operation and maintenance to customer service and electricity-use management, contributing to the safe and stable operation of CGE's power grid, Ye said.
According to him, following deployment across CGE's operations, the five intelligent agents have delivered measurable results. For instance, the meteorological forecasting agent provides weather monitoring across all 345 municipalities and towns within CGE's service area, supporting 16-day trend forecasts and detailed forecasts for the following 72 hours. The agent helps shift grid operation and maintenance from manual data analysis toward automated risk identification and early intervention.
Meanwhile, the meter-reading verification agent automatically reviews more than 18,000 field photographs each month and supports closed-loop verification and follow-up.

Moreover, the overdue payment management agent has shortened the arrears-handling cycle from approximately two months to one week by consolidating previously fragmented procedures into a unified workflow, Ye said.
The customer complaint handling agent achieves an AI-based classification accuracy rate of more than 90 percent, supporting faster and more consistent complaint processing. And the electricity-use inspection agent analyzes approximately 10,000 data records to identify customers with a high risk of irregular electricity use, enabling more targeted inspections.
Through the coordinated operation of these five agents, CGE is moving from reactive problem-solving toward more predictive and intelligent grid management. The project provides a practical example of China–Chile cooperation in smart energy, Ye added.
State Grid Zhejiang said it has continued to strengthen its core technological capabilities, expand the use of AI across energy-related scenarios, and enhance the international reach of China’s smart energy solutions through overseas cooperation.
Going forward, the company will continue to improve its multi-agent collaborative architecture, deepen the implementation of the "AI+" campaign, and expand the scope of AI applications across the smart energy sector.
Building on the experience gained from the CGE project, State Grid Zhejiang said it will support the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, promote more replicable and scalable digital energy solutions internationally, and bring the benefits of smart energy technologies to more communities and households around the world.
