The National Medical Products Administration and the National Healthcare Security Administration jointly launched inspections on medical institutions and pharmaceutical wholesale enterprises in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Shanxi province on Monday, acting on clues derived from drug traceability code screenings.
The probe is aimed at prominent issues in medical insurance fund management and key process in drug distribution and circulation, including irregular traceability records and suspected duplicate reimbursement claims. Any violations uncovered during the inspections will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
To hold the bottom line of drug quality and safety, the National Medical Products Administration stressed that it is important to improve the drug traceability system nationwide, enable more precise detection of problems through the full use of digital tracking technologies and deepen interdepartmental coordination.
