The Chengjiang Fossil Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Chengjiang, Yunnan province, offers a paleobiological window into its land for those passionate about fossils. The hilly site documents at least 16 phyla, a variety of enigmatic groups, and about 196 species in an exceptional testimony to the rapid diversification of life on Earth 530 million years ago.
In 2024, China Post issued a set of special stamps titled World Natural Heritage — Chengjiang Fossil Site, including a Microdictyon sinicum fossil, symbiotic fossils of Cricocosmia and Inquicus, and the Fuxianhuia protensa fossil. A special plate displays three sets of stamps, and between them is a vivid painting of the animals that lived underwater millions of years ago. The design is a collaboration between artists at China Philately and Wang Yuheng, a celebrity who gained fame in 2015 after competing on the knowledge TV show Super Brain 2.

The stamp collection has been so successful that it is being offered at the China Philately booth in the ongoing China New Cultural and Creative Market and Trendy Toy Carnival at Chaoyang Park through May 24. The event brings together cultural and creative brands, intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, and toy IPs from across the country, offering a one-stop experience that integrates strolling, shopping, appreciation, dining, and entertainment.
China Philately's booth not only showcases popular collectible products but also serves as a museum highlighting the role of stamps in promoting the country's rich natural resources and long history. For example, it displays images and texts of artifacts once featured on postage stamps, including a set of three stamps depicting the entire hand scroll Chu Yu Tu, and a painting of horses by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) artist and engineer, Ren Renfa. The painting is in the Palace Museum's collection in Beijing.
Over the years, stamps have been issued featuring various antiquities, including paintings, calligraphic works, ceramics, and engraved seals, that have preserved the many facets of Chinese culture in a limited space.
