Shanghai-based cosmetics brand Chando Group co-launched the biodiversity exhibition with the Shanghai Natural History Museum (SNHM) on Thursday at the Chando Future Beauty Innovation Hub of Oriental Beauty Valley in Shanghai's Fengxian district. The collaboration integrates the beauty industry with popular science education and natural sciences, promoting science communication and sustainable consumption.

Themed "Harmony between humankind and nature", the exhibition showcases public science projects like the urban insect challenge and cross-disciplinary works Find Nature, a project launched by the SNHM in 2016 to encourage people of all ages to participate in biodiversity conservation through urban species diversity surveys. Running until March 15, it offers an immersive experience with science displays, interactive activities and artistic collaboration.

Ni Minjing, director of SNHM, highlighted the museum's goal of integrating science communication into daily life through innovation. The exhibition showcases public achievements in biodiversity, with 11 insect boxes created by students from local schools, demonstrating the journey from curiosity to scientific exploration.

Li Hui, deputy head of Fengxian district, noted Fengxian's commitment to developing the beauty and health industry, with the Oriental Beauty Valley as a new landmark. She hopes the exhibition will inspire appreciation for nature, aesthetics and art.

The exhibition also includes an insect hunter interactive area, where visitors can explore urban ecosystem diversity by engaging with insect knowledge cards and discovering hidden insects in miniature landscapes.

Meanwhile, the Chando Future Beauty Innovation Hub of Oriental Beauty Valley will host its first Nature Market open day on Jan 10 to 11, marking its official opening. Visitors can explore various exhibition halls and purchase beauty products directly from the factory store, which will host a New Year Shopping Festival from Jan 10 to Feb 13.
