Chongqing Business Vocational College has teamed up with Singapore's Temasek Polytechnic to promote international vocational education exchange and cooperation through the "Bayu Culinary Culture Journey" program.

The program promotes culinary vocational training as a bridge for vocational education exchange between China and Singapore as well as potential business cooperation between the two nations.

This program has been carefully designed to include a diverse range of activities including hands-on culinary training, cultural experiencing, city touring and corporate visiting.

"We came with a deep admiration for the (Chinese) Ba-Yu culture and look forward to gaining expertise progress and friendship through skill exchanges", said Wu Manchao, deputy director of the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Culinary Sciences of the School of Applied Sciences at Temasek Polytechnic.

During their stay in Chongqing, the visiting students from Singapore will attend hands-on culinary classes to learn regional Chinese cuisine cooking, tour the city, visit leading local enterprises and learn about Chongqing culture.

Jia Xiaobo, vice-president of Chongqing Business Vocational College, said his college has become a leader in culinary and food sciences by leveraging the city's heritage as a "culinary capital", and supporting the growth of relevant local business sectors, including catering, food and tourism.

Temasek Polytechnic is internationally renowned for its courses in applied sciences, food nutrition and culinary science.

The "Bayu Culinary Culture Journey" program was developed in response to objectives laid out in China's National Education Development Plan and the country's business and tourism initiatives, "Studying in China" and "Shopping in China".
