The 2nd Yangtze River Culture and Arts Season opened Friday night at Sanyang Square in Wuhan, Hubei province, turning the riverside into a stage of cultural exchange.

The opening show featured themes of ecology, culture, openness, and renewal of the river. Naked-eye 3D technology brought rare river species to life on giant screens, while artists from Egypt, Indonesia, Russia, and Canada performed a symphony about the river.

Fireworks were set off from eight boats and about 1,000 drones. A light show along both banks created an immersive experience.
Organizers said the festival aims to "offer the finest spiritual nourishment to the people." Many events are free to the public, blending technology with art to create a cultural feast.

Running through Oct 30, this year's season features 12 major programs spanning visual art, film, music, literature, cultural heritage, online media, and academic exchanges.
