The Peninsula Beijing is celebrating the arrival of spring with a special collaboration featuring the beloved Dutch cartoon character Miffy. Marking Miffy's 70th anniversary, the hotel introduced a themed afternoon tea experience, along with a series of activities designed to bring joy to guests of all ages on Tuesday.
Created in 1955 by Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna, Miffy has become a global icon known for her minimalist design and heartwarming stories. Now, her charm takes center stage in The Peninsula Beijing's signature afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge.
Ingrid de Beer, counselor for culture and public diplomacy of the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China, said that Miffy is a symbol of the deep cultural ties that exist between the Netherlands and China.
She noted that the collaboration marks the start of a yearlong celebration of Miffy's 70th birthday.
"As we celebrate here, today a new Memorandum of Understanding on Culture is being signed in the Netherlands, strengthening the bridges of creativity between our two countries," she said.

The menu features a selection of sweet and savory treats inspired by Miffy and her friends. Highlights include the Mango Pineapple Coconut Almond Crisp, featuring Miffy's likeness for tropical flavors, and the Coffee Caramel Bear, inspired by Miffy's friend Boris, offering a smooth blend of coffee and caramel.
Other notable items include the Madagascar Vanilla Hazelnut Lollipop & Miffy Carrot Cake, presented in a chocolate flowerpot, and the Valrhona Opalys Seasonal Citrus Cake, a citrus-infused mousse cake with a Miffy design.
In addition to classic scones, the savory selection includes Miffy's Favorite Tuna Sandwich, Black Truffle Edamame Tart, Chicken Mousse Tart, and Smoked Salmon Snail Roll.
The collaboration also includes a themed reading cottage, a "Springtime Adventures" staycation, and "New Friends Adventure" Easter activities for children. The hotel aims to capture Miffy's playful and kindhearted spirit, offering a season filled with warmth and discovery.
