Suizhou, Hubei province, recently set a Guinness World Record for organizing a mushroom feast with the most varieties of mushroom dishes.
Organizers prepared 300 unique mushroom dishes for the March 29 event, and another 65 were cooked on-site. They included traditional dishes like stuffed tofu with mushrooms and innovative dishes like mushroom mousse and mushroom egg tarts. Ultimately, 325 of the dishes met the standards required to be accepted.

Yang Shaopeng, a certification officer from Guinness World Records, said the record requires simultaneous display of mushroom dishes at a single venue, with at least 300 varieties meeting strict standards, including edible mushrooms constituting more than 50 percent of each dish's ingredients and each entry demonstrating distinct characteristics from others.
Suizhou's abundant mushroom resources make it a major production base for the fungus.

The two-day event concluded on March 30 with Yang officially certifying the mushroom feast as the "most varieties of mushroom dishes on display". Ten dishes received gold awards for "Most Popular Mushroom Dish", while 20 entries, like the mushroom and chicken and charcoal-grilled mushrooms, secured silver awards.
