Duan Chenggang, a senior official at Chongqing's political advisory body, is under investigation for alleged serious violations of discipline and law, according to the country's top anti-graft agencies on Monday.
Duan, vice-chairman of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, Chongqing Daily reported.
He is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, according to a statement.
The Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee convened a meeting and expressed their support for this decision.
Born in the Jiangbei district of Chongqing in 1963, Duan previously held positions as the head of Chongqing's Yubei district and head of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.
