Shanghai Disney Resort will launch its annual Disney Earth Month on April 1, offering a range of activities to encourage actions to protect the planet.

"At Shanghai Disney Resort, the magic of nature and Disney storytelling are deeply connected, inspiring us to protect and preserve the world around us," said Andrew Bolstein, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.

"Our commitment to environmental stewardship extends year-round, and we hope that this Earth Month's celebrations will bring together our guests, cast members, and community in a shared commitment to protecting our planet for generations to come," he added.

A key event will be the ourHOME Nature Conservation Forum on Earth Day, April 22, co-hosted by National Geographic. The forum will bring together National Geographic explorers, environmental experts, conservation advocates, nonprofit organization representatives, volunteers, students, and cast members to showcase global conservation efforts and promote sustainable development.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund, which has supported nonprofit organizations globally to assist over 1,000 wildlife species and natural habitats across half of the world's countries and regions. These efforts include supporting the International Crane Foundation and its collaborators, which nearly doubled the population of Siberian cranes in the eastern flyway region. Representatives from the crane foundation will attend the forum, sharing insights and practices in nature conservation.

Additionally, the inaugural Youth Environmental Inspiration Program, jointly launched with the Shanghai Science and Education Development Foundation, will announce its top three winning teams during the forum, encouraging innovative student solutions for environmental challenges.

From April 18-22, the Celebrate Earth Month Fair will be held at Disney town, featuring interactive activities focusing on waste sorting, water conservation, and nature exploration. National Geographic and local nonprofit organizations will participate in the fair, and park visitors who show Earth-conscious behaviors may receive limited-edition themed stickers.

In mid-April, over 100 Disney volunteers and their families will conduct a cleanup at Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park, where the estuary of the Yangtze River is located, to combat plastic pollution and marine debris.

The resort has also integrated sustainability into its entertainment offerings, including Jammitors, a performance that transforms recycling tools into musical instruments. [Photo provided to chinadily.com.cn]

In addition, the resort underscored its environmental progress, including biodiversity efforts such as documenting 129 bird species through a decade of the bird-watching program. As of mid-March, renewable energy initiatives have seen 3,921 solar panels installed across 24 buildings, generating 2.69 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and reducing carbon emissions by 1,127.4 tons. The transition to fully electric shuttle buses is projected to cut annual emissions by about 1,000 tons.

Moreover, the resort has also integrated sustainability into its entertainment offerings, featuring Xiaotui, a talking recycling bin, and Jammitors, a performance that transforms recycling tools into musical instruments to promote waste sorting awareness.
