Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province hosted a cooperation and exchange conference as part of the 2025 Wuxi International Month on March 19, aimed at fostering collaboration with Europe.
Nearly 40 senior executives from multinational enterprises in Europe and representatives of business associations in China participated in the event.
During the event, Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi, attributed the city's notable achievements in economic and social development in recent years to the unwavering support and contributions of numerous foreign-funded enterprises, particularly those from Europe.
Zhao pledged substantial policy support, competitive industries, a favorable business environment, and a vibrant innovation climate to facilitate investment and entrepreneurship within the city.
He encouraged European businesses to expand investment, establish institutions and regional headquarters in Wuxi, and bring in more partners to bolster the China-EU partnership.
The senior executives shared insights into their respective investments and developments in Wuxi, expressing eagerness for future collaborations and showing confidence in investing in the city.
Dr. Florian Hobelsberger, CEO of Diehl Controls Asia, emphasized Wuxi's emergence as a burgeoning hub for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries in China, citing its robust ecosystem of research institutions, manufacturing facilities, and innovation-driven companies.
He highlighted Wuxi as a strategic gateway for international collaboration, underscoring the potential for European companies to leverage the city's strengths in research and development as well as manufacturing to expand their presence in the Chinese market.
Federico Fossati, vice-president of Asia Pacific Sales at Vibracoustic, lauded Wuxi's success on the global stage in an interview, attributing it to exceptional infrastructure such as its 5G network and a robust supply chain. He commended Wuxi as a globally leading city, particularly in the automotive industry.
Marco Landi, president of the EuropIA Institute and the Smart Solutions Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes, France, expressed hope for stronger cooperation between Wuxi and France in the field of artificial intelligence.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union, Wuxi launched the "Dialogue with Europe", a year-long initiative encompassing economy, trade, culture, tourism, and sports.
More than 130 representatives from over 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, are set to visit Wuxi for exchanges, promoting practical cooperation in various fields.
