2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit is expected to herald a new chapter of boosting regional digital economy cooperation, said Sun Dong, secretary for innovation, technology and industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, at a news conference held in Beijing on Monday.
The summit will be held in Hong Kong on April 14-15, with a main forum and three sub-forums, featuring integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies shaping the future – jointly building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.
Ministerial officials and high-level representatives of industry institutions at home and abroad will have in-depth exchange meetings on promoting economic development with innovation and technology, and helping enterprises develop overseas markets during the summit.
As a financial, trade and shipment center, Hong Kong provides an ideal platform based on its geographical advantages and high-level open-up business environment for enterprises to expand overseas markets.
With the launch of innovation and technology development blueprint at the end of 2022, Hong Kong aims to build an international center for innovation and technology. Hong Kong has focused on competitive industries including AI, data science and robotics to boost digital economy, added Sun.
Despite the rapid development of the internet in the Asia-Pacific, there are still significant differences in the level of development. Therefore, building an exchange and cooperation platform for digital and intelligent transformation is in line with this summit, according to Ren Xianliang, secretary-general of the WIC.
