One of the best tenors in the world, German singer Jonas Kaufmann, presented a recital at Shanghai Grand Theatre on March 10.
Hailed as "the World's greatest tenor" by The Telegraph, Kaufmann has performed more than 70 roles in leading opera houses all over the world. The last time he performed in Shanghai was 2017.
Collaborating with his long-time partner, pianist Helmut Deutsch, Kaufmann sang a series of German Lieder repertoire, including art songs composed by Schumann, Liszt, Brahms and Richard Strauss at the concert titled Reise ausserhalb der Zeit (Travel out of Time).
Since the beginning of their collaboration in 2008, Kaufmann and Deutsch have released dozens of albums together and toured all over the world.
Shanghai is the only stop in the Chinese mainland on Kaufmann's Asia tour this year.
