In the year of 2024, institutions and foundations in Hainan province, including the China Institute for Reform and Development, the Hainan Reform and Development Research Foundation, and the Hainan Institute for Free Trade Port Studies, made significant strides in advancing research, fostering international cooperation, and shaping key policy dialogues.

The China Institute for Reform and Development marked a remarkable year in 2024 with a series of impactful initiatives. Notable events included hosting the 90th International Forum on China Reform, advancing research on high-level opening-up, and documenting the history of reform and opening-up with a 15-million-word book series chronicling the history of China's reform and opening-up. Additionally, the institute successfully hosted the 4th RCEP Media & Think Tank Forum, which saw the participation of nearly 300 representatives from mainstream media, think tanks, enterprises, and international organizations across 19 countries. The institute also expanded its international collaborations, released significant publications, and conducted education on further deepening reform comprehensively, solidifying its position as a key player in China's reform landscape.

In 2024, the Hainan Reform and Development Research Foundation spearheaded a series of influential public welfare actions, focusing on supporting reform research and fostering international cooperation. Notable initiatives included funding research on high-level opening-up, supporting the 90th International Forum on China Reform, and hosting academic discussions such as the 11th China-Japan-Korea Cooperation Dialogue. The foundation also facilitated lectures on critical topics such as climate change governance and artificial intelligence, while actively funding publications such as Stand Fast to Reform: My 33 Years with CIRD. Additionally, the foundation engaged in environmental protection projects and received a generous donation of 10 million yuan to further its public welfare endeavors.

Last year, the Hainan Institute for Free Trade Port Studies achieved significant milestones, focusing on research and recommendations to enhance the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Noteworthy accomplishments included proposing strategies for Accelerating the Creation of New High Points for Institutional Opening-Up and organizing seminars on crucial policies. The institute also released suggestions on customs operations, advocated for China-ASEAN economic integration, and facilitated discussions on Hainan-Hong Kong industrial cooperation. Furthermore, efforts to attract international events such as the 11th World Free Zones Organization Annual World Congress and promoting the Hainan Free Trade Port on global platforms showcased the institute's commitment to fostering international partnerships. Additionally, the publication of the Series on the Construction of Free Trade Port with Chinese Characteristics highlighted the institute's scholarly contributions to the field.
