As Spring Festival approaches, Guangzhou South Railway Station in the capital of Guangdong province was bustling with crowds of passengers waiting for trains on Friday to return home.

A ticket-free special high-speed train bound for Bijie, Guizhou province, departed on schedule from the station, carrying migrant workers returning home for the Spring Festival holiday.

Organizing the special trains was part of the joint efforts by the labor departments of Guangdong and Guizhou provinces to provide efficient services for migrant workers, helping more labor forces from Guizhou to move to Guangdong for stable employment.

Yang Yuan is one of those migrant workers from Bijie. He works in the medical laboratory of Guangzhou Medical University.

Thanks to a paired labor assistance mechanism between Guangzhou and Bijie, Yang found a job in Guangzhou after graduating from a vocational school in 2018. After that, he studied at Guangzhou Medical University and obtained a bachelor's degree.

Since 2019, Yang has helped popularize medical and health knowledge, participated in multiple trainings and joined research projects with university professors.

"Over the years, I have become more and more adapted to working and living in Guangdong," said Yang. "It is a very inclusive city boasting lots of development opportunities."

Prior to the special train bound for Bijie, another two special trains had already set off on the same day, heading to Chongqing municipality and Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, carrying migrant workers on their journey home.

After Spring Festival, Guangdong's human resources and social security authorities will also organize special trains and chartered buses for workers returning to their workplaces.

During the Spring Festival travel rush this year, 30 such trains and 300 chartered buses will be arranged by Guangdong authorities for migrant workers.
