More than 170 agricultural products from Maoming, Guangdong province, were showcased on Friday at a promotional event held in Beijing.
Maoming is known for its thriving agricultural sector and considered as the world's largest lychee production base, with over 94,600 hectares dedicated to cultivation in 2024. The total value of the full industry chain is about 12 billion yuan ($1.6 billion).
Products such as lychees, Huajuhong and tilapia from the city were the most popular among visitors at the event.

Among the region's specialties, Huajuhong is a type of peel collected from pummelo trees, which are widely grown in the city and used in traditional Chinese medicine. "Huajuhong tea has a unique taste, with a refreshing sweetness," said a visitor.
Maoming has developed a complete Huajuhong industry chain, with 1,543 companies involved in planting, processing and sales.
